During the height of the storm at Wynnum on Thursday a wireless aerial at the residence of Mr. J. Sands, Tingal Road, Wynnum (the old Wynnum Town Clerk’s residence) was struck by lightning about 10.45am.


The lightning arrester was shattered and the adjoining wall blackened. The standard copper connected with the wireless net was fused and the electric light and telephone services of the Town Hall were badly fused.


The blacksmith in the Council’s smithy near the Town Hall gates, also felt the shock.
